T enerife is a fantastic place to head for some fun in the sun, no matter what time of year. It’s a place that’s blessed with a warm and sunny climate for pretty much the whole year, so that you never need a contingency plan for what to do if it rains. It won’t, or at least it’s very unlikely to!
Once you arrive in Tenerife, you will only have one problem. How to possibly fit in everything you could do there during the time that you have there.
Of course, you don’t have to do anything. You could choose to spend the week by the pool at your hotel, or on the beach in front of your hotel, reading books and topping up your tan. Or you could live a nocturnal lifestyle, staying out clubbing until 5am – when most of the clubs call it a night – and sleeping it off during the daytime.
But there’s plenty more to do on Tenerife apart from dancing and sunbathing. For instance, you could spend the whole week taking different hiking trails. Tenerife offers a fantastic landscape for keen walkers – whether you choose coastal routes or set yourself the challenge of scaling Mount Teide – the world’s third largest volcano. It’s a five hour hike to the mouth of the crater, but if you want to go to the very summit (only 200m further up) you’ll need to get a permit first from the local tourist office.
There are lots of tourist attractions which can easily fill up your week. There’s a couple of great aquaparks, as well as some wildlife parks too. Loroparque is famous for its dolphins, penguins and other sealife in the aquarium.
If you prefer to ‘do’ rather than ‘spectate’ there are all kinds of water sports you can take part in Tenerife, from windsurfing and jetskiing to diving and kitesurfing.
Whether you’re going with a group of friends or with your family, there’s something for everyone in Tenerife. The flight is only a few hours and you can set off on Tenerife holidays from Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds, to name but a few of the UK airports you can choose from.
